I believe for some it does. I think the nature of the depression factors in as to helpful or not. Certain depression is chemical issues, some are from experiences and emotional issues.

Your whole entry sounds pretty close to the protocols doctors follow to ascertain whether a person needs care in regards to a medicinal or a therapeutic, the problem is that that protocol takes a number of years before anything is actually achieved and even then it might just be a chemical mask and the real problem never gets dealt with or possibly cannot be dealt with.
