Synthetic THC sometimes causes this type of response on first use.
I attended a psychiatric ER lecture a few years ago when this first started happening. The Synthetic THC is seven times more powerful than plant based THC.
JWH-18 was a common one that was used in “Spice” and bath salts.
Really cheap to purchase too.
Ironically, the formulas were developed by John William Huffman, professor emeritus of organic chemistry at Clemson University who first synthesised novel cannabinoids. His research, funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, was focused on making a drug to target endocannabinoid receptors in the body.
Again, out tax dollars produced our toxin.

Spice or k2. The theory that k2 causes a psychotic reaction much more than plain old marijuana is that the whole marijuana plant has biological chemicals in it that act as an antipsychotic. Sometimes a user of marijuana does have a psychotic episode after use.
Bottom line: user beware....it may be the last thing you remember doing.
So that’s clearly NOT marijuana. That distinction should be made.
