An underground nuclear bunker that was the site of a missile launch facility during the Cold War is up for sale in Kansas for $380,000
The property, located in Abilene, Kansas, is the site of a decommissioned Atlas-F intercontinental ballistic missile silo complex.
Built in 1961 on 11 acres of land, it includes a Quonset hut with water and electricity, a one-building room for storage
The underground complex spreads over two inhabitable levels, which were once used as a a launch control center and living quarts for crew during the Cold war.
In its current state, the complex is hardly livable, though the real estate agent who listed it insists it has 'potential.'
'This facility has lots of potential in whatever way you choose to go. A home, apartments or a Bed and Breakfast are just some ideas,'
'It's zoned right now for residential use but, in the past, it's had some business on it so I don't think getting it zoned for industrial or commercial would be any issue,'
Included is a 4,000 square foot Quonset hut, as well as an additional one room building for office or storage.
The main attraction is the underground bunker, which is entered through a concrete block with a staircase.
The main bunker is about 170 feet underground, and was reportedly constructed from concrete, epoxy resin, and 600 tons of steel rebar.
It was designed to withstand a nuclear strike, as well as 500 mph winds
It's outfitted with water, electricity, and a forced sewage system to the ground surface, providing a safe haven in the event of a nuclear bomb.
The underground structure is made up of two floors measuring 1,200 square feet each, and houses the launch control center, as well as living quarters for the five-man crew.

But it sounds like a random cool preppy thing to have,
LDS?
Latter Day Saints?
Or are you talking about a Breaking Bad scenario here...?
‘It’s zoned right now for residential use”. Well, that’s special, LOL.
Asbestos report?
A bit out of my price range.
If I could be an absurdly wealthy recluse, I would be game.
A fixer-upper.
Some serious water issues, but still...
“I heard about some guys getting one of these and making LDS.”
Mormons? They’re making Mormons? Well, that might explain Mitt Romney.
Out of sight!
I’d want an elevator.
It’s a real “fixer-upper”.
I wonder if it still has LCMS missiles inside?
They should have a pest control company inspect it for KGBs.
Hidden in disclosure on page 24.
It has been on the market for quite some time.
I'm guessing enough so that fire isn't a risk, but if it is bare concrete, maybe not.
It’s got good bones.
They should name it Archie.
I think it’s under contract to a guy named Galt.
