Most of what we “know” about watergate is fake news. And although Nixon may have known - maybe even ordered the break in - he was only doing the same dirty tricks the Democrats and communists have been pulling for decades - let alone all of the suicides from people that could point their finger at the clintons.
Nixon was fighting the swamp before most of us even realized there was a swamp.
It was actually arranged by Dean. The true purpose of the break in ( unbeknowngst to the participants - Liddy found out about this years ago and actually sued Dean over it, don't know how the suit turned out ) was to retrieve a "blackbook" of hookers that the DNC used for when bigwigs came to town. It turns out Deans wife ( or soon to be wife ) was listed in the book ( along with compromising photos ). Dean wanted that book ( and photos ) destroyed. The "bugging" was only cover to get the book. Nixon was set up, from inside the administration.
It was quite the operation - keep in mind, he had won re-election in ‘72 against McGovern in a MASSIVE landslide, something like 509 Electoral votes. He was gone just a year or two later. Nixon wasn’t exactly Mr. Conservative either. Just staunch anti-communist. They never forgave him foe that.
Republicans never made much sense to me. By that I mean some of the people they hire as “strategists” or “campaign advisors”. Remember that chick who worked for Sarah Palin, in the McCain run?
