Is ‘Doing the Right Thing’ Worth Increasing the Risk of a Second Trump Term?
New York Magazine ^ | July 26, 2019 | Ed Kilgore

Posted on 07/29/2019 2:27:51 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

A new argument for impeaching President Trump has gained attention in the wake of Robert Mueller’s testimony in the House on Wednesday, during which the special counsel confirmed his understanding that Trump could be prosecuted for obstruction of justice (or any other crimes he might have committed) after leaving office. There’s a problem with that scenario, notes Brown University’s Corey Brettschneider:

Mueller’s answer needs to be front and center as Congress decides its next move. If the president is reelected and serves his full term, the five-year statute of limitations on obstruction of justice will run out before he leaves office. Thus, reelection would almost guarantee that Trump will never stand trial for his crimes. The only way Congress can ensure Trump is ever held accountable is to begin impeachment proceedings.

There's one teensie, weensie little problem with this scenario. Trump never committed obstruction of justice and Mueller did not conclude he had. Doesn't matter if Trump is in office or not, there is no crime to prosecute.

But, inside the insane clown posse, that is a reason to pursue impeachment, so politicians can vote to convict where a court of law would throw out such a prosecution.

Statute of Limitations won’t apply, as the dhimmicraps will still be crying about new instances of Obstruction on January 20, 2025.

This won’t go away unless the swamp goes away. And, that is looking less and less likely.

What crimes?

Why he obstructed justice—anyone can see that. But how does one ‘obstruct justice’ if there is no underlying crime? As the meme goes “He didn’t steal any horses but he did vigorously object to being hanged for it.”

Well I’ve heard so many crimes. There’s the Stormy Daniels situation, in spite if Mueller’s report and testimony, Russia is still allegedly a crime, all the Twitter stuff is a crime, he violated the emoluments clause....

I think it’s funny, that these liberal idiots who don’t even know what emoluments means, are convinced he violated the emoluments clause.

Rep. Collins: At any time during your investigation, was your investigation curtailed or stopped or hindered?

Mueller: No.

Not guilty

Obstruction of Just-Us

Where the Democrats are the “us” ... have they needed anything else all these years that the seriousness of the charges has only gone one way?

I know, I’m a conspiracy nut, right?

I mean all Obama did was go after a political opponent of the woman everyone believed was a shoein to win the election, bringing in law enforcement and national security assets, obtaining foreign help to conduct a witch hunt and also covered up his administration’s involvement … can you imagine how outraged Democrats would have been if he’d have sent some of his own people into a botched robbery attempt at some hotel and covered that up?

s Clearly, he didn’t do bad things like Nixon did so of course the Democrats are being fair minded in not caring. /s

The TDS fools are truly mentally ill. They have had genuine “psychotic breaks from reality” (that’s a real psychiatric term).

These deranged TDS fools need strong anti-psychotic meds, but probably most of them are ALREADY taking powerful antipsychotics such as Moban, Thorazine, Stellazine, Haldol, Prolixin, Navane, and Mellaril. But nothing seems to help these TDS losers—which is why they are so angry and unhappy all the time.

Ed, why don’t you get all your little friends in NYC together in your backyard and have a nice little imaginary tea party with your stuffed toys in which you can conduct an imaginary trial for imaginary crimes. Then your mommies can pick you all up for naptime.

Doesn't have to be any.Impeachment is a political act. They can trump up a charge, Majority votes yea. Impeached. It now goes to the Senate where it is a horse of a different color. A trial is now conducted concerning the charges brought by the House. President Trump can mount a defense, call and question witnesses under oath. A vote is held. 2/3 of the Senators have to vote yea[convict = removal from office] any less that 2/3 acquittal = remains in office.

Bill Clinton was impeached by the House, but the Senate failed to convict him on the charges so he remained in office.

What crimes Ed? ...but I do agree with you on starting impeachment proceedings Ed.

When it gets to the senate for trial, discovery begins and the president’s lawyers can question all co conspirators under penalty of perjury.

Trump will be acquitted while your team gets to say “I plead the 5th” 6000 times as the coup plot is publicly reconstructed (with charts) to the public day after day.

Still want it Ed?

Trump wins either way dope.

BTW you soiled youself.
