That youtube video is filed in the Music category.
There’s a joke in there somewhere.
You are sick
If diplomacy was moral we’d all be dead.
Good ketch Sparkli, no joke intended. What is the significance of a video is filed in the Music category. ?
R.
Otto’s parents were unwise to encourage his travel to North Korea. Nevertheless, they were his parents. This was a small and very close family. They will always mourn his death . I pray that God helps them to find some level of comfort with each new day.
Lee, your wish is well taken, but the NK detour seems un directed. How say you?
Rab
Amen. From what I saw of his “confession,” it was obvious that he had endured terrible torture. At that moment I lost all respect for the North Koreans, who are a barbaric people.
If diplomacy was moral wed all be dead.
Im sure you know what that relates to. It may, in-fact be correct in context.
Thanks, R.
Otto was a grown man when he decided to take that path.
No one forced him to do that. His wanderlust and need for adventure cost him his life. Other Westerners have made the same bad choice since 9/11. The phrase coming to mind is ‘Point of No Return’. I think Military pilots used it.
Otto kept walking closer to North Korea, and at a certain geographic point he was suddenly in enemy land and it was too late to change his mind. He had given that right away to his captors.
“Otto was a grown man.”
Lee, he was but a puppy. His risky but understandable action fed into his selection as a pawn. When unkind fate blessed him with the opportunity to become a man, he sold out with vigor.
Sad indeed. But a well scripted, sniveling coward for sure.
Rab.
Yes, “but a puppy” as we all are at one point in our lives. Very sad.
Btut are the acts of “puppies” to guide our foreign policy decisions? Not at all.
Keith Laumer, who served a few years in diplomatic circles, wrote a great sci-fi series of books. The Retief series.
It’s light and fun, but true to diplomacy’s dicta.
There’s like forty countries in the world, that just aren’t safe, for any American to visit. Yemen, Tunisia, and about half the islands that make up the Philippines are such places. I don’t know what Warmbier saw in this vacation idea. It’s like some idiot deciding to make a trip to Baltimore, and hang out on the street after 10 PM.
That woman was raped because she deserved it, because if the clothes she was wearing.
I think you are thinking of another Otto altogether.
Since you were not there, nor do I think you personally have ever faced personal physical torture (which the North Korean bastards are famous for) that he no doubt underwent, I dont think you have much of a right to judge.
He was in college overseas on some kind of excursion involving his studies.
He was in a position to have been educated about the dangers of travelling to an unsafe foreign land.
NK is an untrustworthy actor in human rights. I can’t believe he was unaware of that fact.
But he chose to go anyway as an adult.
His wanderlust and need for adventure cost him his life.
Unequivocally wrong. His sense of entitlement and theft cost him his life. Re-writing history to portray him as some victim/hero does not serve the truth. Otto chose to steal in a country notorious as the most brutal and totalitarian on the face of the planet and he paid for his adrenalin rush with his life. While as a parent I feel deeply for his parents, we in this country often forget to instill the idea of self preservation in our children. Life in the U.S. is perceived as safe and people forget there is mortal danger about.
If you go to the youtube page and click on category music,
it takes you to a category of music videos.
Why this if filed there, I do not know.
It doesn’t seem like some people have very much companion, does it?
