How about Harry Baals, longtime mayor of Ft Wayne IN in the 30s and 40s.
In 2011, the city asked the public to submit names for a new government building. The overwhelming majority voted to name it the “Harry Baals Government Center”.
The city chickened out and ended up naming it “Citizens Square”.
HA HA HA!
