So we can only hope a few thousand snowflakes copycat his actions.
“...his note said it was to protest climate change.”
We can only hope that he has started a Progressive fad.
“A prominent gay rights activist set himself on fire in a protest suicide in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park in the early hours of Saturday morning. David Buckel, 60, was found in the park at 6.30am on Saturday before hundreds descended on it to enjoy the warm...”
______________
I SWEAR, I thought the sentence was going to continue ‘to enjoy the warmth surrounding the protester.”
Yet many people who commit suicide, do so when they are in an abnormal mental state: they are "not in their right minds." So sometimes the sin of self-murder is not fully imputable in terms of personal guilt.
Which is to say, you are not fully in control of what you do when driven by mental illness.
It's pretty horrible when a person has a good deal of repenting to do, but they never repent at the end because their suicide cuts off their last chance. Such a person is exposing himself to the ultimate horror and futility: the loss of his immortal soul to the outer darkness.
However, you don't know what was going on his mind. Maybe his last SANE thought was repentance. Likely? Maybe not. But possible.
So, bottom line, we can't pretend we know for a fact that he's in hell.
Since prayer transcends time and space, I will pray for him.
His delusion is different in extent and one could say in kind, but delusion is delusion is delusion at the most basic level of sin. It is the source of missing the mark.
I remind myself not to be right about things, but to not miss the mark, or at least try to aim-small-miss-small and hope for a shoulder between the road and the cliff. If there weren't one ... I'd be dead already.
The primary delusion it mistaking 'the world' for what's real, but there are a billion other manifestations that lead to that.
A twofer.........
He might have been aided.
You mean he had AIDS?
Here’s to hoping this becomes a bigger fad than eating Tide Pods and snorting condoms.
Possibly and this might have seemed like a more ‘noble’ way out.
“Because a Protest Suicide would have been done in public or on camera, not in the middle of the night, at 3 AM, where no one saw it happen. If it was murder, perfect set-up.”

Now that is good detective thinking. Besides any evidence left at the scene, one would have to look at how active he was in global warming organizations. Just because he headed some composting project doesn’t mean he is a global warming fanatic.
Your malice does us no good.
What an idiot.
What message did he think he was giving out? He was better off at least trying to self-immolate at Exxon HQ. Or maybe instead of going out in a drama queen blaze of glory he could’ve spent himself into the poor house fighting for the cause he actually believed in.
No no... couldn’t do THAT. My take is he had a jilted lover or realized that his personal life had meant NOTHING and he had nothing to live for. So, like the rest of his life, he covered his personal experiences in the shroud of political ideology as if that made if have meaning.
And its people like him that are currently the judges and lawyers in this nation.
Wishing for thousands to die in their sins is diabolic.
He may be in hell, but we don’t know that for a fact.
One down. ????? to go.
Very Good.
I wonder how many will get it.
