Eddy Shaver was one of the best guitar players who ever lived. Dickie Betts gave Eddy his guitar saying “You can play it better than I can.”. I knew Eddy casually. Met him just a few years before he died.

I knew Billy Joe. The last time I saw him it had been awhile and I don’t think he remembered me. It’s sad that not a lot of people know about him. He put out a song a few years ago called “It’s Hard to Be An Outlaw When You’re Not Wanted Anymore.”. That about says it.

Hung out with Willie for a short time once on a movie set. What you see is what you get. Very humble man.

Mike Judge did an episode of Tales From The Tour Bus about Billy Joe Shaver. And Billy Joe Shaver appears in another episode of the program.

Saw their band, Shaver, as a small club in Houston (Mucky Duck). During the set Billy Joe said "this boy's mama is so crazy, she married me 3 times."

Which was true.

Eddie could play anything. He was in a metal band and ran sound down at Chelsea’s at the mall for other acts.
He was also quite the guitar tech at a local shop.

He was about the only other cat in town that played blues at the jam sessions in the music store and at the Pub.

Lost touch when I finished TSTI and moved back to Ft. Worth.
Complete opposite of his dad, which is why I was shocked when I heard what happened. Just a real nice guy.
