DUBAI: A TV director caught up in a payment dispute with a woman threatened to use her photos to create an adult video he would publicise on social media. The Arab man, 43, landed at the Dubai Criminal Court for having reportedly blackmailed the Arab woman with threats to tarnish her honour unless she paid Euro20, 000 (Dhs86, 600) he had spent on her.
Prosecutors also accused him of misusing information technology to modify the woman’s photos with the intention of shaming her, besides using telecom services to hurt her feelings in 2016.
During court questioning he denied the charges and his lawyer said the woman waived her complaint. He provided judges with an official letter in this regard. The jury set Jan.30 for the ruling.
An Emirati lieutenant testified that in May this year, the woman residing in France, emailed the police complaining against the defendant. She revealed he befriended her three years ago.
He helped her find a job. Their friendship strengthened and he took photos of her using his mobile phone. Two years later he started threatening to publicise the photos on social media platforms.
He threatened to create the adult clip. He had obtained her Facebook username password. He logged onto her account and accessed all her photos and those of her husband and children.
He posted her photos along with those of her husband and added comments identifying her and her husband as fraudsters and stating that her husband was offering her to men who paid the most.
He sent her a Whatsapp message vowing to continue posting her photos and those of her family unless she paid Euro20, 000. The posts and remarks caused her marital problems that resulted in divorce.
She attached screenshots of Whatsapp conversations to the email she sent to the police including one showing she wired him some Euro200 following which she sought police help after he continued issuing threats.
Police identified the defendant and summoned him to the Criminal Investigations Department on Aug.16. He contended he threatened her to force her refund the money he spent on her during their friendship.
I’ll bet there are photos of him with his favorite goat and or little boys.
