You’re right ... you or me or anyone else is EVER going to hear from ANYONE that they went to Hell because any one of us, in particular, failed to give them the Gospel. That would make God out to be a powerless nobody!

The most that will happen from perhaps one of us failing to do so, is that ANOTHER PERSON will get our reward for that, because we failed. God will INSURE that person is saved ... with or without us!

But, if you want to build up your bank account in Heaven ... then, yes, do witness ... but don’t beat someone to death because they have refused ... just move on.

Are you intimating that continued contending for the true faith is a waste of a Christian's time and effort, for instance, on the FR Religion Forum once a poster has made their belief clear, for instance, to a Roman Catholic who denies what the Christian has posted; that the FReeper should then drop the matter and move away from posting to that RC (or any RC) on FR RF anymore? Or are you saying something else?

Christians (and Jews) are not each other’s enemies. There is a much more diabolical force in this world that should be fought.

And that's the bottom line. This is a time for finding our common ground and uniting against the true enemy. However, there remain those who are extremely susceptible to satan's "divide and conquer" ploy.

Don't leave. Visit the Prayer Forum. There are so many people who write in, Their journeys are an inspiration; it's a peaceful, gentle place.

Here on Free Republic, the temptations to vent are great for some of us. Therefore, since I am one of the people you mentioned, I must approach each FR RF post more prayerfully and less spontaneously, making certain that I indeed am listening to the leading of the Holy Spirit each time I'm prompted to respond.

I consider this line of action better for everyone; I say this as someone who has been capable of getting in trouble, even garbling the message, through words and posts.

One thing that struck me when I first read about it--one thing which sometimes bubbles into my memory when I post--is what C.S. Lewis wrote in "The Weight of Glory."

It is a serious thing to live in a society of possible gods and goddesses, to remember that the dullest and most uninteresting person you talk to may one day be a creature which, if you saw it now, you would be strongly tempted to worship, or else a horror and a corruption such as you now meet, if at all, only in a nightmare. All day long we are, in some degree, helping each other to one or other of these destinations. It is with the awe and the circumspection proper to them, that we should conduct all our dealings with one another, all friendships, all loves, all play, all politics. There are no ordinary people. You have never talked to a mere mortal.

So it is that we may do well to remember something in 2 Corinthians 7:

[8] For though I made you sorry with a letter, I do not repent, though I did repent: for I perceive that the same epistle hath made you sorry, though it were but for a season.

I do not advocate a Religion Forum in which no one gets upset, and I don't know how it would be humanly possible to produce one. How much evidence is there, though, of "repentance to salvation"?
