Liberal Republicans constitute most of the party. That’s just reality. There’s no reason to believe that the GOP will every morph into a conservative party (i.e., one with the serious objective of minimizing the size of the federal government).
Both parties continue feeding Fedzilla but the one-size-fits all government behemoth clearly does not work and in fact only leads to more dysfunction, waste and control over the lives of its citizens. This, IMO, is the central problem we face today. We need to restore federalism.
Unfortunately, neither party wants to do this. The Republicans say they do, but we all know that’s just not true. Its a ruse to gets votes and money from its base.
Back to your comment, you’re right. There’s way too much agreement going on between them. They are two sides of the same coin.
