Driving Ukrainians Into Putin’s Arms
NYT opinions ^ | DEC. 8, 2014 | Lev Golinkin

Posted on 12/08/2014 10:19:25 PM PST by wetphoenix

A RECENT United Nations report says that nearly half a million Ukrainians have fled the country since April. The fact that families run from a war zone is heartbreaking but hardly unexpected. The disturbing part lies in the details — of the roughly 454,000 people who had fled Ukraine by the end of October, more than 387,000 went to Russia. Most of those who fled were Russian speakers from the east, but this still raises a sobering question: If this is a conflict between Ukraine and Russia, why did so many Ukrainians choose to cast their lot with the enemy?

Moscow’s denials of involvement in eastern Ukraine are, of course, absurd: It is clear that the separatists in Donetsk and Luhansk are equipped, reinforced and trained by Russians. That said, if Vladimir V. Putin had tried sending unmarked commandos to set up sham republics in western Ukraine, where anti-Russian sentiment runs high, his men would have been returned to the Kremlin in body bags. Yes, Mr. Putin is brewing unrest in the east, but he is brewing with local ingredients. He is connecting with the population using a language they speak and a symbolism they understand.

The unpalatable reality is that a significant portion of eastern Ukrainians — the very people on the ground living and suffering through this conflict — distrust Kiev and the West and at least tacitly support Russia and the separatists. And frankly, that isn’t surprising.

~Map of Europe 1811 ~

Hmmmm. Your map is obviously racist. No Ukraine in 1811! Can’t be!!

~Your first reply about the commissar....A classic.
LOL.~

Some people here really believes that Russia is a kind of weird pagan commie kingdom, without any independent press, television and so on. Internet only connects to Kremlin-dot-com and people are commuting by cattle cars mostly between gulags. The national pet is a circus bear and drinking vodka while dreaming of empire is a single way of recreation. After hanging homosexuals and minorities from the lampposts of course. In order to enforce all of these here are commissars beating kids will batons for opting for fries and coke instead of sour cabbage soup.

An attorney with Sullivan & Cromwell was present at the meeting where leading German capitalists decided to back Hitler for power. Guess who that attorney was.

The “NAZI” movement was the creation of financial elites.

It was designed to be the antagonist in the elite’s second world war.

Upon taking power, Hitler immediately did what the elites who placed him in power wanted, he started working on a military buildup.

Those top companies and banks made a lot of money as the top vendors to the the NAZI government, and political contributions by them and their leaders went directly into the slush funds of the top NAZI leaders, enabling them to consolidate their power.

These top companies and banks, throughout the war, continued to enable NAZI Germany to trade and bank internationally, mainly through the Bank of International Settlements in Switzerland, a kind of “central bank for central banks”.

Most interestingly, the President of the BIS in Switzerland was an American banker, Thomas McKittrick, from 1940-1946.

The elites today still make use of thuggish terror groups, while they simultaneously, through their minions holding top posts, control governments.

Last week the U.S. House of Representatives voted in favor of an anti-Russia resolution whose language rivals even the worst rhetoric from the Cold War.

The bill is full of war propaganda (and numerous false accounts) as the hypocritical politicians condemn Russia for doing exactly what the U.S. has been doing in Syria and Ukraine for years.

In order to be completely consistent you should also draw a line separating “original Ukraine” from territories taken from Poland by Stalin in exchange for some better ex-German real estate.
It really would be a trick to find “original Ukraine” after that.

The Bank of England sold the Czech the gold the bank helped the Nazi’s steal. They said one phone call from BIS made it happen.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/bank-of-england/10213988/Never-mind-the-Czech-gold-the-Nazis-stole....html

Not to mention the Rockerfeller Standard Oil, and the dozens of American banks funding the Nazi’s. They were funding both sides of the war.

It wasn’t only about money, when the smoke cleared the aristocrats also ended up with new territory, especially Stalin. The Middle East was essentially under British control under the League of Nations.

It’s pretty ironic that the current government in Kiev continues to be made up of oligarchs and corrupt neo-fascists bent on stripping Ukraine of its sovereignty and handing it over as a burnt sacrifice to the IMF...

... Both the west and the east are fighting for control of its resources and the people are piggy-in-the-middle, without a say and are used as pawns in the propaganda war of BOTH sides, but particularly the West, of whom nothing is said about Kiev’s links to the National Endowment for Democracy and other CIA/George Soros’ Foundation-links to pro-western interest puppet factors in the situation.

When people are being fired on...hungry and afraid...they will go to where the welcome is. Putin’s been sending in caravans of food and medical assist. for sometime now...

Thanks for demonstrating how much of a goober you've always been. Here's your Potemkin food and medical assistance :

Courtney Weaver ✔ @courtneymoscow Follow Got to check out more convoy trucks this morning. A lot of them mostly empty like this one

Some more Russian aid:

Andrew Roth @ARothNYT Follow Military transports kept rolling by toward border...

Russia is indeed a craphole of mass corruption and deranged citizenry (you included). From a smart Russian who fled your Babylon:

"In simple terms, Russia is a mafia state. All the way from Moscow to regions and to small towns, everything is controlled by various mafia gangs. Police and judiciary are parts of most powerful gangs. They usually assist in extortion or theft of property earned by local small and medium size businessmen. Big business is subject to federal mafia clan wars.

The mafia-state formation is logical consequence of Russian economy: it is totally dominated by oil and gas revenues. Oil, gas and derivatives provide meaningful employment to about 1M people. Russian population is about 150M. How do they survive? The majority depends on various forms of government handouts.

With russian-style oil production you don’t have to think, innovate or even hire smart people. All you have to do is to cash the check. Gazprom is ranked as one of the most grossly inefficient enterprises in the world. So what happens when a small, totally incompetent minority controls country-wide oil rent while the rest of 149 million people are a burden? The answer is obvious: that 1M would create a mafia state to keep the rest of 149M in check by means of police and judiciary abuse and mass propaganda.

Russian propaganda machine is vast, it now exceeds the one of Soviet Union. Official TV propaganda lies professionally and constantly. There are no independent TV channels; everything is controlled by government stooges. The “news” teams employ special teams that do video editing and fabrications to present absolutely falsified accounts for TV transmission. Then these fabrications are broadcast to brainwash captive population.

The population at large is, statistically speaking, not very bright. Many are deranged from overuse of alcohol or drugs. A big number are simply aging elderly rooted in USSR-centric mindset who never adjusted to the modern world. Most of them do not “work” in the sense we understand full-time employment here: they occupy placeholder positions sponsored by the government. Being dependent their whole life on government help, they are psychologically unable even to think government can do something wrong."

What's ironic is that this is a website called Free Republic and your sorry ass hasn't been zotted for spreading these lies every chance you get.

Here's some prominent Jews fighting for Ukraine in RIGHT SECTOR, the year 2014:

Nathan Chazin, Battalion Commander of Right Sector

“Joint charity concert of Right Sector and Jewish Community in Odessa to help battalions”:

Proof of racism in Ukraine. Asian in Right Sector forced to work on computer. Stereotypes galore:

See this thread. Russian stereotypes of their nation are accurate. Maybe even understated. This is what happens when you have Communism. Everything turns to crap and the whole country turns into Ferguson on steroids:
