I support the female officer. She did what SHOULD be done a hundred times a day until the police follow the laws as they demand the rest of us must do.The particular offense of speeding to or from a second job as private security is one of the more common officer traffic offenses.I worked with one such.In a different case, some years past I heard from his fellow officers of a state trooper who moved house using his cruiser at 100mph plus in multiple trips with his personal items.Another was killed rear-ending a load of steel while speeding to get coffee,as was his habit.

I can’t, and most people don’t respect those who break the very rules they are paid to enforce;we may be in FEAR of those police, but we do not RESPECT them.

“The particular offense of speeding to or from a second job as private security is one of the more common officer traffic offenses.”

I live in the SF Bay Area. Thanks to “the stimulus” I 680 through the San Ramon Valley has been completely “rehabilitated.” One night last year at 15 minutes before midnight, I was southbound on I 680 in Concord (right near the local CHP office. There were nearly no other vehicles on the road going my direction. Then, in my rear view mirror I spotted two vehicles traveling at an extremely high rate of speed traveling one right behind the other. I work as a race official at Laguna Seca, and I routinely watch cars traveling at high speeds. When they passed me (two CHP Crown Vics), I would estimate that they were traveling at 125 mph! No lights, no sirens, just driving at twice the posted speed limit! Where were they going? Ten minutes later, I passed them both. They were the “graveyard shift” sitting on the I 680 night road construction in Alamo, CA. So I guess they justified their speeding because they were in danger of “being late” for their shift (sleeping in their cruisers with their lights on “protecting the workers” from speeders)! Just disgraceful, and worrisome in that they could have killed someone and probably gotten away with it. It’s just another example of the “why does a dog lick his balls, because he can” syndrome that applies to LEOs.
