Should law enforcement be exempt from the laws they enforce?
Just think of all the "zero tolerance" cases in government schools. Child handcuffed for drawing a gun or something. Boys suspended for finger guns, eating a toaster strudel into the shape of a gun, drawing a gun. All these cases arguable the authorities followed the written rules, but their actions were clearly insane. I'm arguing that this is possibly another case of following written rules could be insane.
This used to be the conservative position, while the progressives wanted to write rules to cover all situations and insist on compliance with rules, however insane or not.
