Ive got a few of those of the same size, but they have Benjamin Franklins face on them instead of JFKs. Also, I think some of them have silver content. All the Franklin half dollars were 90% silver along with the 1964 Kennedy ones. 1965-1970 Kennedy half dollars were 40% silver. After that they were the now standard copper/nickel clad coins.

After that they were the now standard copper/nickel clad coins. Correct, with the exception of the Halves (and dimes and quarters) in the 90% Silver Proof Sets issued by the US Mint. Those have to be bought from the mint (or a coin dealer) and are not general issue for circulation.
