I think the real issue is that Obama had dual citizenship at birth (regardless of where he was born), since BO Sr was a British citizen, and that is the British rule on such things. Our Founders did not want someone with divided loyalties. If Cruz had Canadian citizenship at birth due to being born there, then I would say the same thing about him.

On the other hand, it’s obvious that Ted Cruz loves America as much as Obama hates it.

They wanted someone with a strong attachment to our country that they gained by being born with it.

Three of our first four Presidents held dual citizenship with another country.

While they were President.

George Washington (1), Thomas Jefferson (3), and James Madison (4).

There is not hint that they ever renounced that dual citizenship, that they ever talked about it, or that anybody in the country ever gave a damn.

They were all native born Americans.

John Adams (2) did not.
