Why was Nixon impeached? No one died in Watergate. He was impeached because the Left hated his guts. What comes around, goes around. Ignore the whining from the cry babies on the Left. Obama has been caught in a blatant dereliction of duty and should be impeached for not coming to the aid of the trapped American’s in Benghazi.

And we wouldn’t have a Senate of the insane without the American people nominating and electing those senators.

I think the senate would look considerably different if it weren’t for the 17th amendment.

Nixon was never impeached or indicted for anything. He resigned when ol’ Barry Goldwater, McPain’s Senate predecessor, told him that he no longer commanded the support of one third plus one of the senators. Goldwater said Nixon was “the most dishonest man I ever met.” Lester G. Maddox said the same thing of a Nixon successor, GA Jimmy Carter.

Yes, the American people are truly the laughingstock of the whole world, but they still want American tax funds.

“Never get past the dem senate, Exercise in futility.”

And that’s why an impeachment attempt won’t be made between now and the end of 2014. Now, after the midterms if Pubbies keep the House (probable) and capture the Senate (good chance), we might well see an impeachment attempt. If one of the charges is abuse of power then O Scumbag will be in huge trouble!

The liberals are floating this crap and trying to bait Republicans. First things first. Select committee to get the facts. we have a few answers but generally just questions and suspicions.

Like the scene in Pulp Fiction “ we don’t want to think. We want to know ...”

Hoosiermama,

Tell us more about that Senate impeachment effort.

I did a Google but only came up with a site dating from around 2008 during his run for the nomination. It appears to be an attempt to stop his presidential bid.

Can you direct me to anything more focused on his performance in the Senate?

Do you think he started his presidential bid in order to distance himself from the earlier impeachment effort?

Would the best way to get rid of him be to show him a door to some more exalted position, say at the UN? Since nothing gets done there anyway,it would be like a padded cell== one with a flattering title.

Joe would be an improvement. He isn’t a muslim, he isn’t a Marxist, he isn’t beholden to the Saudis and he isn’t behold to Soros and God only know who else.

Plus, and I say this knowing Joe is no damn prize, at least he is a natural born citizen (unlike his boss).

The lefties will be floating this like crazy, just to use it as a distraction. The Praetorian Guard media will be repeating it 24x7 while ignoring everything else.

I don’t care if Barkey is afraid or not. It isn’t about his feelings. Impeach. We go through the process without fear, and we take note of the names that try to block it, and let the chips fall as they may. This is about truth and the consequences for inaction and lies.

By spring of 2015 this will be old news. It will have no traction.

It should have been front and center before the last election, but the press and the admin hid it.

The ONLY thing that can stop the coming SHFT is for Zero to be impeached and out of office along with Bozo.

I remember those days.. I still wonder who it is out there who can name one thing Nixon did that JFK and LBJ didn't do. Except for the cover-up as explained below.. hint: NO ONE QUESTIONED the shenanigans of JFK and LBJ -- and lived in the case of LBJ.

Articles of Impeachments for Nixon (and the FReeper is right.. Nixon resigned after being informed by Goldwater, et al. that he was finished.)

Article 2 claimed that Nixon "endeavoured to obtain from the Internal Revenue Service, in violation of the constitutional rights of citizens, confidential information contained in income tax returns for purposed not authorized by law, and to cause, in violation of the constitutional rights of citizens, income tax audits or other income tax investigations to be initiated or conducted in a discriminatory manner."

It's alleged that he schemed to use the IRS. Even if true he could not pull it off. At a minimum Clinton and Obama did do it.. and likely so did JFK and LBJ.

Nixon "misused the Federal Bureau of Investigation" as did both JFK and LBJ.

Nixon did investigate citizens "which unlawfully utilized the resources of the Central Intelligence Agency". For sure LBJ used the CIA to bug Goldwater's plane among a myriad other domestic tasks LBJ had the CIA personnel do. IMO.

Nixon "knew or had reason to know that his close subordinates endeavoured to impede and frustrate lawful inquiries by duly constituted executive, judicial and legislative entities concerning the unlawful entry into the headquarters of the Democratic National Committee, and the cover-up thereof. . ." That he did. JFK and LBJ didn't do that cover-up stuff because NOBODY SAID ANYTHING. They got away with the shenanigans. (Groups like the John Birch Society said something but in those days the only medium for them was periodicals with limited circulation.)

(As for the Watergate break-in why would Nixon care about what the DNC was thinking? He had a big lead and won in 1972 with 49 of the 50 states. The break in was done by underlings for whatever reason. Nixon tried to protect them.)

Yes Nixon interfered "with agencies of the executive branch, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Criminal Division, and the Office of Watergate Special Prosecution Force, of the Department of Justice, and the Central Intelligence Agency, in violation of his duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed." What president hasn't similar things?

You are absolutely right, dandiegirl. I really hope Trey Gowdy takes Lindsey Graham on in the Primary. He has the makings of a superstar and I think he can beat Graham in the current climate. Graham is going to move to the right in anticipation of a challenge but Gowdy is so good he could take him. I think Gowdy terrifies Boehner and the moderates in the House, so I don’t see him moving up fast enough if he stays in the House.
