The officer was not a “cop”; he was a deputy sheriff and was wearing his uniform. He was assaulted by the (now) dead woman when he tried to stop them from exiting the store and then again assaulted by the driver of the vehicle.
Now, about a cop not being a cop ~ this is a deputy sheriff ~ in an urban county.
