Salvation Army is good, Red Cross can take your money and put it to any future disaster recovery they choose.
give to the salvation army..I always do. red cross has raised so much $$ in the last week and it will never go to help all the people in NY/NJ
We had bad flooding here in 2007 and again in 2008.
Red Cross has Comfort Packs (toiletries/space blanket) and water. You had to go pick it up. We are rural and the roads were impassable for 2 days.
FEMA showed up a week later and set up tables in the Ag Center store, where you could apply for disaster loans, if you had no insurance. Local EMO showed up after 4 days and just asked about damage and looked at things.
We donated to RC after 9-11 and then learned how it was misused. We donate to SA. We had water available for neighbors who had lost their wells.
Every local weather event, we all take care of ourselves and always have. It is difficult to band together, at first, since people are 1/4—1/2 mile apart and phones go down.
As for fellow Americans, the gay daughter of a dear friend posted on her mother’s FB account that if the marriage referendum in MN passed, she had a “punch in the nose” available for everyone who didn’t vote her way. Another conservative friend’s NYS daughter posted pro-0 campaign talking points to everyone’s FB. They have no compassion or respect for even their own parents.
You can all draw your own conclusions.
