“I’m totally opposed to illegal immigration and will put a moratorium on new Green Cards until unemployment reduces. Jobs should [go] to U.S. citizens first.” Goode would “eliminate automatic birthright citizenship” for which he has supported past legislation and would “immediately repeal the executive order giving temporary amnesty; a stand Romney won’t take.”

Virgil Goode's take on immigration is that illegal immigration should be stopped at the border and that there should be no place in the US for anyone here illegally.

In fact, he believes that even legal immigration should be tied to the US jobless rate. Why bring in more to take American jobs when we are in difficult times, or why bring in those who will not find jobs and end up costing taxpayers?

I think it makes sense. Whether you like the messenger or not, it makes sense.

George and Jeb Bush, on the other hand, believe in open amnesty.

We all know that that will be Romney's position when the dust settles.

Regarding the oxymoron of “same-sex marriage” Goode warned, “Government forcibly redefining marriage to include anything other than one man and one woman would be totally foreign to the views of the framers of the Constitution, first ten amendments and Declaration of Independence.”

Goode denies that the Founders, men of “deep-seated values,” would consider a cross on the town square or the Ten Commandments posted at school “as un-constitutional.” Further, public displays “aren’t forcing religion on anyone, but now certain parties wish to erase the principles on which this country was founded.” He continued, “In this era of relativity, we’ve gotten away from the Christian principles which made families stronger, gave a compass to individuals.”

Goode is another in a long line of completely irrelevant 3rd party candidates. Virgil makes some great points, and so does my neighbor and the girl from the local dog-walking service - none have the slightest chance at all of every being President.

Just another Akin. Goode can say the right things, but he will marginalize his views through his actions. By running in states like VA, he makes an Obama victory more likely and of course, Obama is diametrically opposed to liberty. By making it harder for Romney to win, the less consideration will be given to people like Goode that opposed the GOP.
But, I guess the point is for Goode to destroy the conservative movement by dividing it.

>Virgil Goode: How Do We Elevate Constitutional Principles?

Well, you sure don’t do it by helping to re-elect zerobama you ignorant, megalomaniac perot clone.

The bonfire of the crazies, aka the FR50.

Championing one of the third party people that can't get elected, but CAN help reelect the worst, most radical, most Marxist, most destructive, most pro-muzzie, most pro-death, most anti-Christian, anti-God, anti-spiritual, most anti-American, most anti-freedom, most anti-business, most anti-constitutional administration ever won't be a jewel in your crown.

It won't, don't kid yourself.

The dust doesn't have to settle to know that Mitt is nothing but Obama-lite.

Hi xzins: I get a kick out of these threads. Thanks for pinging me.

So please get me up to speed. What is the latest evil that will befall us if we don’t vote for willard? Toads? Plagues of boils? Mayan apocalypse? The heartbreak of psoriasis?

I do get a kick out of the sense of entitlement that pervades so many of the “Any Socialist But Obama” posts. They seem to think that the gop is somehow ENTITLED to the votes of conservatives. And then act like a bunch of petulant welfare queens if they can’t convince you that willard is Our Salvation.

To keep you up to date on my completely unscientific poll of willard signs and bumper stickers in VA. Willard broke the double digit barrier earlier this week and I have him at 11. I’m not counting the “defeat mitt” sticker I saw earlier today, but I did count the willard sticker on the car with FL plates. I lost count of the hussein stickers and lawn signs, but I reckon its in the 40s.

Are you going to celebrate the end of the convention? If so, how? FRegards, RD

Goode differentiated his platform from the Libertarian Party, which also favors limited government, “Gary Johnson is pro-choice and supports ‘gay’ marriage.” As an obvious devotee of constitutionalism, Goode noted “the Bill of Rights protects life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness stated in the Declaration,” emphasizing the word life.

Exactly what kind of constitutionalism is Goode a devotee of? Original intent, or "living document" textualism?

I really hope he means that anchor babies won't be albatrosses around Uncle Sam's neck, and not that every single person in the US, legal or illegal, has to go through the citizenship process.

I like Virgil. He has one of those home town quality type personality. When he talks; he’s very interesting and easy to listen to. A country boy at heart though very smart and sincere. Thinking he is funded by Soros (as someone posted), in Boones Mill Va/Rocky Mount (one part time cop-one police car-maybe 2 traffic lights) is one of the funniest things I have read. He is just a good old country boy who loves his country; (I’m sure he is sick of the dems going to the extreme & repubs spending wild/not fighting back) like alot of us are.
