Deut 13:2-5 If there appears among you a prophet or a dream-diviner and he gives you a sign or a portent,
saying, “Let us follow and worship another g-d” — whom you have not experienced — even if the sign or portent that he named to you comes true,
do not heed the words of that prophet or that dream-diviner. For the LORD your G-d is testing you to see whether you really love the LORD your G-d with all your heart and soul.
I must say I love the Jewish people, because I follow God’s commandment and because the Jews are God’s original chosen people which gives them special status in God’s eyes—what higher status can there be? And because it seems to be a natural inclination of mine to love them.
As for the above quote from Deuteronomy—and this again is strictly intellectual: Jesus is not the same as this prophet or dream diviner because in John 14 he says
“He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, Show us the Father? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. 11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.”
