Sorry, not buying it. There are plenty of teachings of other religions that I would not subscribe to and may think a bit loopy, but unless the candidates are going to try and implement some aspect of their religious beliefs through their political and legislative agenda in a way that would have a negative impact, such beliefs would not likely impact my choice unless I had other beefs with the person. And I have to say, all the Mormons I have ever met have been extremely decent, moral, family-oriented people. I could never believe the silliness of the Book of Mormon, but I would certainly not withhold a vote from someone solely because of their Mormon beliefs. Conservatism is a broad based tent that you pragmatically have to try to inch rightwards while conserving the coalition. Whatever happened to Reagan’s eleventh commandment? The frequenters of this website are becoming ridiculous in their objective support for the Marxist Obama by their hyper purist hatred and demonization of Romney. The primaries are the time to show what direction one wants the party to go in. One has to take a broader and more pragmatic view in the general election. And this constant meme that Romney is “just the same” as Obama is just lunacy. Romney actually believes in the existence of a free market and a healthy private sector. Obama is a statist through and through. As a social conservative, I do believe Romney is a bit wet on those issues, but his movement has been in a positive direction, and based on my knowledge of Mormons and on his private family life, I do think he is at heart a believer in traditional family values. I despair for this country, and the Romney hatred promoted on this site is not constructive at this time. And even with a great pick like Ryan, it is of course never good enough for the blind purists here... Sheesh.
If you want slavish devotion to the republican party you probably need to look at republican sites, this is an independent conservative, site, and Romney is an anti-conservative liberal.
Bishop Mitt Romney is the most radically left wing candidate in history for the GOP, and one of the most radically leftist of either parties, in American history.
