My standard for a “true conservative” is exceedingly high. So high in fact that no candidate but the one I support can be nothing but a RINO. Now think back to the primary wars with the RINO charges being thrown around and understand the underlying sarcasm of my post.
I'm a little think-headed, so I appreciate you pointing out the sarcasm - I don't always recognize it. :)
i do hope a couple of the ABR FReepers on the thread will engage the question I posed. Romney was not my first choice (I voted for Santorum in the Ohio primary), but he's the only choice now, as I see it - I just can't see how helping Obama get reelected is going to put the conservative movement in a better position in 2016. Not that it would matter - Obama will pick two or three Supreme Court justices if reelected, and anything a conservative Congress and President would pass after a potential 2016 win will be struck down, anyway.
I remember reading a piece about Perot's impact on the 1992 election. The race in Ohio came down to a few votes per Congressional district, which meant that Clinton carried the state, and the White House, because Perot hated the Bush family. The Anyone But Bush voters won that year, and look what it gave us; I choose to not repeat the mistake this time around.
