Except for his unfortunate go along to get along support of TARP, bailouts, stimulus spending and the increased credit limit, etc, Ryan is a pretty good choice. Probably the best choice of the RINOS that were on Romney's short list. I support Ryan for the vice presidency. Wish he were at the top of the ticket, though.
But I still cannot and will not support the grand father of ObamaCare. Romney still loves and brags about his bastard brainchild, RomneyCare, even today when he knows what an anti-liberty socialist POS it is.
And the fact that he advocated that abortion should be safe and legal in America for over three decades of his adult lifetime and even advocated that Roe v Wade should be supported and sustained as settled law precludes any consideration whatsoever by this pro-life Christian for Myth Romney for the presidency.
And the fact that he boasted that he would be better for "gay rights" than Ted Kennedy, and proved it just increases my resistance.
That, and his penchant for gun control, his continuing support for global warming, gays in the scouts, gays in the military, and his record of appointing liberal judges makes it all but impossible for me to support him.
Lastly, we're having a bit of changeover on our moderator staff. At least two moderators resigned this afternoon after I flatly refused to rein in a so-called anti-Mormon "bigot" on FR. Well, if being in opposition to false prophets and false prophecy makes a Christian believer a bigot, then I guess I'm a bigot. I've posted before that I flat do not believe that the Book of Mormon is the true word of God. Nor do I believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. The Christian bible warns us to be weary of false prophets and that I am. Romney being the presumptive Republican nominee does not change that fact.
not worth the bother.
On the contrary. My mother-in-law sent me that same chain email yesterday....we both thought it was funny. Someone read an American Thinker article, and lifted most of the points from it. But it was embellished quite a bit. The “drop dead gorgeous” Tiger Beat crap wasn’t in the original article. I’m thinking the author of the email is some hormonal middle-aged woman who needs glasses. Mitt? A collar ad? LOL
Choose your candidate based on your fluttering heart if you wish. Conservative women, however, are supposed to be able to think.

This is exactly what so many Freepers dont seem to understand. Its not about purity. No candidate is going to be perfect, but with Romneys record many of us cannot vote for him, knowing well have to stand before God. If this is what our country has come to, then it deserves either of the two candidates and the out pouring of Gods judgement. Frankly, I expect martial law and suspension of the election, so for me at this point, the arguments are moot. Besides, the votes are being counted in Spain by a Soros company. Crickets from the people and our representatives about that. The fix is in. Ill still vote, but it wont be for Romney and down ticket will be conservative. There might be some hope there.
As for Morons, my husband is ex-Mormon. His father got high up in the church, became total disgusted with the goings on and quit. I wont elaborate here. For the people that dont think Romneys Mormonism will mean anything, I think youre naive.
Bears repeating....
Well said. And same here.
Ultimately, our real problem is that there really isn't all that many truly conservative people out there in the public realm or in business in general or even the general public. There is way to much sacrificing (compromising) of ones own values and virtue to just stay a where your at, if you wish to advance in many areas now then you generally have to sacrifice more of who you are. Its ultimately a loosing course for the country as a whole. The only thing that will bring it back is when reality ultimately smacks us all in the face. It may just be to late by then.
You said it well Jim. I will not be voting for romney in part due to the zombie mittbotts who’ve been trying to change FR into a pro-Romney site. With that said, this is Romney’s race to lose and the continued pro-gay, anti-gun, pro big gov’t health care, etc has done little to sway me either. I must stand before God and account for my choices. If one wants to vote for Romney - that is a decision they have to make for themselves and I’ll grant you that much - it was a hard decision for me to make. But don’t dare be offensive to those who refuse to vote for the opposite of a conservative candidate.
For those who would say my vote would be for 0bama are asinine. I live in a deep blue state that will have all its electoral votes go to the obamination, so my vote will mean little anyway - except to protest the stupidity of the eGOP who manipulated the system that brought us to this place.
Yours is a principled stand Jim, I stand with you on it.
Let's see, we have label sticking, we have spite voting that has more to do with how you view others who have been on FR for years than how you view either Mitt Romney or the likelihood that Mitt Romney will leave a door to freedom open that Obama would not.
“but with Romney’s record many of us cannot vote for him, knowing we’ll have to stand before God”
And how will you be able to stand before God after you enabled an Obama second term, being responsible for everything Obama will do in his second term?
I got the same call two weeks ago. After laughing at Romney's audiacity in asking me for $200, I told the poor guy on the other end of the line to go pound sand.
Excellent link...thank you. As for me? I fear G-d.
“If you fear Obama, you will vote for Romney, if you fear God, you won’t.”
So then, GBA, if I fear God and I do, I shouldn’t vote for Romney, so that Obama can be reelected as a lameduck who can finish destroying this country?
I am so stooopid and dumb. Please educate me? (Yes, I am being sarcastic.)
“If you live in a solid blue state then you can and should vote for Jill Stein the Green Party Candidate... There is a chance that if enough people vote for the Green Party candidate then in future elections they will be allowed into debates and given more credence by the MSM. This may help to siphon the “true-believer” socialists and commies from the Democrat to the Green Party.”
Absolutely. I hope this message is heeded.
Unfortunately I’m in Virginia...
...
The central theme in my fathers memories of those days was simple. Sometimes you are forced to do anything to make it through another night with the hope that the next day might be better.
...
However, my fear is that this country that I love, that saved my Dad and gave our family a chance to rebuild, will not survive another four years with the current President in office.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I share your fear. Perhaps your post will open some eyes to the seriousness of what we face. I hope so. B"H
“...and my sweet grandson Caleb.”
Agreed. When in doubt, look into the eyes of your children... or grandchildren. It is their future we are gambling deciding. Still, it’s tough.
I will vote Romney, but it will hardly be a reflexive “support the Repub” vote.
I’ve come to realize something. Unless one has the financial wherewithal to make substantial contributions to the candidates of his/her choice, the average American has just a single piece of meaningful political currency: the vote. I can only spend it once.
I could choose to spend it toward improving the Republican party; i.e. rejecting the liberal Mormon it has foisted upon me, in the hope that the party will take my concerns more seriously in the next election cycle.
I could choose to spend it toward making a statement about a fringe candidate who has no chance to win but would make a better President than either of the major party candidates.
I could choose to spend it toward removing Barack Hussein Obama from office.
The first two choices are tempting. I consider the third choice to be the best use of my political currency.
I do not fault any conservative who comes to a different conclusion than I have. It’s your vote.
An election loss to Mitt would be the perfect excuse for Barack to throw an EO tantrum. He might prefer this given that recalcitrant America is just not up to appreciating him.
Green Party? Is that an Agenda 21, enviro-nazi party? If so, I’d rather go with the Constitution Party—if I chose to cast a “protest” vote, which I probably won’t.
Your post captured everything I’ve been trying to say myself. Thank you!
