Except for his unfortunate go along to get along support of TARP, bailouts, stimulus spending and the increased credit limit, etc, Ryan is a pretty good choice. Probably the best choice of the RINOS that were on Romney's short list. I support Ryan for the vice presidency. Wish he were at the top of the ticket, though.
But I still cannot and will not support the grand father of ObamaCare. Romney still loves and brags about his bastard brainchild, RomneyCare, even today when he knows what an anti-liberty socialist POS it is.
And the fact that he advocated that abortion should be safe and legal in America for over three decades of his adult lifetime and even advocated that Roe v Wade should be supported and sustained as settled law precludes any consideration whatsoever by this pro-life Christian for Myth Romney for the presidency.
And the fact that he boasted that he would be better for "gay rights" than Ted Kennedy, and proved it just increases my resistance.
That, and his penchant for gun control, his continuing support for global warming, gays in the scouts, gays in the military, and his record of appointing liberal judges makes it all but impossible for me to support him.
Lastly, we're having a bit of changeover on our moderator staff. At least two moderators resigned this afternoon after I flatly refused to rein in a so-called anti-Mormon "bigot" on FR. Well, if being in opposition to false prophets and false prophecy makes a Christian believer a bigot, then I guess I'm a bigot. I've posted before that I flat do not believe that the Book of Mormon is the true word of God. Nor do I believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. The Christian bible warns us to be weary of false prophets and that I am. Romney being the presumptive Republican nominee does not change that fact.
The question should be ‘Why is the GOP refusing to exercize oversight authority?”
Because if they had done so, Obama would have done a fraction of the damage he did. And WHEN (even I admit this) Romney gets the nod, why would they restrain their own liberal when they won’t restrain the ‘oppositions’?
People are missing the real problem. No president can achieve squat if the congress defunds him.
No sh*t.
Youre pathetic.
***Maybe so. But that would make me a pathetic CONSERVATIVE. And you aint conservative, which makes you even more pathetic.
I never made any such claim. So, WTF?
I said if we continue to spend at the rate we are, we will have a currency collapse. You disagree, calling it a hyper-inflated fear. So fine.
But WTF does that post above have to do with me?
Only God decides who goes to hell, not you. Spend more time judging yourself otherwise you might find yourself there with her if you don't repent.
Are you still here? Instead of parading around in the assless chaps of your morality, why haven’t you left for those other sites you mentioned?
Perhaps Boehner underestimated Ryan’s [rising] influence (as well as the Tea Party’s?). What it comes back to is I don’t trust the GOP-e to act in the country’s best interest. They’ve sabotaged those in the Tea Party at all elections of which I’m aware. So elevating Ryan to a VP position would make sense if the goal was to remove him from the powerful House Committees. Perhaps they have something in mind to pass in the Budget Committees once Ryan’s out of the way.
If we lose the presidential election, Paul Ryan will still win his House seat back, assuming he doesn’t voluntarily withdraw from that ballot. If we win the election, he becomes a huge, prominent leader in the Republican party. Whether we win or lose, Ryan’s likely to be a future Republican presidential candidate. So I can’t see how this is a way to diminish him. Plus I think Romney has been running the Republican party since well before the primary due to his big money connections. He has no reason to take orders from Boehner.
This is a smart strategic pick by Romney. Ultimately I think Romney is simply an ambitious guy who wants the power and status of the presidency. If his path to getting it is to be more conservative, then he’ll do it. He knew he had to rally the base now and he did what it took to do it. He picked a guy who is probably the most well-liked by the base but who isn’t also the kind of street-fighter who is hated by the buttoned-up establishment, e.g. Palin, West, Trump and Gingrich.
So you are for raising taxes,
***Of course not. You asked how it would be resolved.
Vaya con Dios!
Meanwhile you lecture good conservatives on this board about being CINO’s. Truly unbelievable.
***I guess you have to find SOMEthing to criticize me about.
C’mon. Give me a break. Do not expect me to sing the praises for that liberal/progressive/abortionist/homnosexualist/statist SOB!! You’re in the wrong place if you think that will ever happen.
What a more conservative, intelligent place this site would be if there were less of your type here Norm.
Don’t worry, you and your echo chamber will continue running off the better people like mojitojoe, just as you have Miss Marple, and many others just in the past 24 hours.
Sparky, this is a conservative site. You are promoting a liberal. I am promoting a conservative. One of these things is not like the other...One of these things does not belong...
But WTF does that post above have to do with me?
*** It’s just another set of hyper-inflated fears. They come around every time a CINO is running for pres. Your set of fears is one among many. I see that another Freeper has started answering your posts and it looks rather rational to me. Your fears, however, still appear irrational.
LOL! You noticed that too? Did you also notice the crazies are very few, as in less than 10. They post a lot but same thing over and over again. Pathetic.
Promoting a liberal would be working to re-elect a Marxist to the White House. That sure ain’t me doing that.
We lost *a lot* of it. In fact, much of our grave fiscal problem has it roots in programs begun in the 1930s, in response to the economic crisis. And believe me, Obama will take even more advantage of an economic crisis than FDR did.
