What David Maraniss Left Out of The Story

Maraniss continues to rely on Dreams for much of his narrative.

Then there is the issue of whom Ann dated in high school.



Maraniss, knowingly or not, opens up a mystery heretofore unexamined. Mentioning the birth notice that appeared in the Star-Bulletin, he states that it identified "Mr. and Mrs. Barack H. Obama" at a home address of "6085 Kalanianaole Highway." Maraniss adds, "But she and Obama and the infant never lived there." He goes on to say, "Only a few days after the boy was born, the father had to fill out immigration papers to extend his student visa. The residence he listed on those papers was 1704 Punahou Street, apartment 15."

Maraniss has this all wrong. The immigration papers listing the 1704 Punahou Street address were filled out on March 3, 1961, long before a child was born. The next time Obama listed his address on an immigration document was on August 31, 1961. The address given was 1482 Alencastre Street.

Another mystery lady to track down.

Frank Hardy has found another clue that bolsters his argument. In an online forum dated March 14, 2009, Ann’s high-school classmate Joelle Hannum comments innocently, “I can remember the rumors about [Ann] and another classmate who were involved with and married African-American men, and believe me in those days it was looked at with a LOT of negativity.” As another friend had earlier testified, Ann never dated “the crew-cut white boys.”

A thorough investigator, Hardy called Joelle Hannum to follow up. He immediately wrote down what she told him: “By request of President Obama, we [she and her classmates] have decided not to give out any more information. I have to hang up now. Goodbye.”

I am occasionally asked why any of this matters. The fact is that Obama rode to the presidency on an apocryphal story. The dissembling that he has had to do to hold it together has cost at least one good man his freedom and his career.

Philip Lipson and Charlette Le Fevre who discovered the name of the woman ANNA OBAMA listed in the Seattle Polk directory for 1961, and who provided the photograph of the house which was supposedly at that address, where Mary, the famous baby sitter, babysat a child for that same woman she identified as ANNA for whom she said she baby sat when her own daughter, born in July 1959, was 18 months of age, and I'm not doing the math again, Mary is having enough trouble explaining how she made that come out as 1962, when it should have been 1961.

And btw, someone should tell that author David Maraniss that if he plans to attend the next fairy festival in Seattle organized by Charlette, he better book in early. Same goes for the next UFO Seminar. Places are limited. PLenty of space at the next Gay Pride Parade, however.

A visit to the Seattle Museum of the Mysteries is a must.

During our first interview, Mary referred to Stanley Ann Dunham as ³Anna² not knowing that it was the same name as what was listed in the Seattle City Directory. This verified for us that indeed Mary had known Ann Dunham.

MARY REFERRED TO HER AS ANNA, THAT’S HOW WE KNEW SHE MEANT STANLEY ANN DUNHAM??

No, Charlette, Mary referred to her as ANNA because that’s who she was. Just like in the Polk. That was ANNA OBAMA. And it was in JANUARY 1961. Which indicates that Stanley Ann Dunham was still in high school somewhere when Anna’s child was conceived.

Isn’t that right, Charlette?
