In 1979, Reagan had already run 2 presidential campaigns and had an experienced campaign staff and fundraising apparatus all ready to go. He could afford to wait. Sarah has no experience running a national campaign, no experienced staff, and no fundraising apparatus. Also, if Sarah waits until November, she will miss the filing deadline in South Carolina and Florida and will have a hard time meeting the deadlines in Wisconsin and New Hampshire.
Reagan didn’t announce til November, and Clinton didn’t announce til October, and there were many previous president who didn’t announce til the last year of election, yet somehow for todays pundits, Palin is being late
