You can make up your mind as to the "motive" for your self.
Motive? I’d say he was looking for ‘something’ in return for not cuffing her and taking her in...
Alas, it wouldn't surprise me if every word is true.
I was convinced this was a rogue trooper also until I read the rest of the story...

This incident is very serious. I expect the investigation to be revealing.
Normally, i support the police/HP 100 per cent. However, the fact that the letter was written by a lawyer(professional prevaricator) makes me want to hear the law enforcement side of the story. They’d better have a good one.
Those boys messed with the wrong couple.
I agree with you that most State Highway Patrol officer are above reproach. (or they don’t stay long)
I verified the accusation with a close relative in Wilmington, NC and she told me it has been in the news each evening since the event. (in news since Thursday I think) And she believes it is a truthful accusation.
If so, as you said, this is very serious.
False arrest is serious enough, but the other accusations are much worse.
Nice try, but no cigar. I see nothing in the “rest of the story” that remotely taints the accusations.
I am not buying, yet.
Bottom line...The husband getting pulled over is the key. That was a blatant set-up and leads me to believe that Trooper Wyrick is a liar.
The husband getting pulled over is KEY? My God what planet do you live on. Everything about his getting pulled over IS BASED ON THE HUSBANDS STORY!

The discrepancies were minor and she blew a .00.
That could well be. If so, the husband is stupid for getting the governor involved.
The cop indeed was angry that she “wasted his time” since she was not intoxicated. Cops today are always on DUI detail and looking to make names for themselves by always arresting more and more DUI drivers. So he was angry it probably cost him some bonus money. Then of course had to do the power play to show them who was boss.
Nowhere in her account of the events does she indicate that the Trooper in any way behaved inappropriately, or even made any suggestive comments, which he would most likely have done were he in trolling the interstate.
The second trooper wouldn’t have been placed on leave if that traffic stop of the husband hadn’t happened. You don’t think they have the radio transmissions?
Looking at the video she has a terrific figure for a woman her age. It’s pretty clear what the JBT was after.
