The point, I'm afraid, is "alternative families". That's the big push from Hollyweird, and has been for some time now.

And if they can get (of all people!) Sarah Palin's daughter to star in a this-is-reality show promoting "alternative families", they'll pay her handsomely. (And it's sad to say, but even some conservatives are vicariously seduced by the money.)
