Girl Dies Bull Riding. VERY RARE ACCIDENT
http://www.associatedcontent.com ^ | Feb. 21st, 2011 | Sherry Tomfeld

Many people die every day, how many die doing something they absolutely LOVE? Brooke Ann did. I'm sure her adrenaline was pumping just before she got on that bull. I'm sure there was a part of her that thought "this is the one I'm going to make 8 seconds on". She smelled the bull, felt his power underneath her and was loving every minute of it. Would it have been easier, more PC or less heartbreaking if she'd been killed in a car wreck on the way home? No.

Very true. In fact, women have ridden bulls and roped cows from the late 1800’s onward.

The George Strait look alike dig was referring to the dorks in the audience...

Funny story: Had a city friend who had traveled out from the Metromess to camp and shoot guns out here...

Cows heard my truck and came runnin’...

The Dork says, and I quote: “ Y’all sure have a lot of bulls out here”

I replied, “ How can you tell? “

He said the horns give it away....

At the time we had some St. Gerts, Nonpolled Herefords, Shorthorm, etc....

All cows, except for one: a Beefmaster bull, tall and beefy, no horns...

Riding horses is statistically 20 times more dangerous than riding motorcycles. Should we ban horse riding? Require only adults to ride horses? Make helmets mandatory?

Answer yes to any of the above, and you'll be revealed as a democrat.

Bull riding is dangerous. But as a society, we ought to ENCOURAGE risk. We've become so safety obsessed that it is embarrassing. You cannot achieve much in life without taking risk, and we ought to admire it, not discourage it.

The bulls work for 8 seconds at a time perhaps 3x’s a night. They weigh in from 1200-1800 pounds, and “carry” riders who weigh 5-10 % of them. That’s hardly brutal. The use of a cattle prod IS.

Yep, it’s the life of Riley for those bulls. When one of them dies, I bet the other bulls stand around and say, “He died doing what he loved- trying to get some guy off his back.”

Bull riding is animal abuse. The object is to torment the animal so he kicks and bucks.

You couldn't be more wrong.

Yes I'm sure as her life faded away she was thinking "Wow it's really great dying this way.

You don't know what she was thinking. Maybe she wanted to do what she loved and so be it, instead of hiding under her bed pretending to 'have fun' like all little girls are 'supposed to do'.

I'm sure she didn't want to die, but who says she wouldn't have died another type of horrific death by being hit by a drunk driver just by walking across the street.

Just because people don't understand why other people like to participate in LEGAL sports you don't like, doesn't mean they should be stopped.

People die from climbing mountains, water skiing, cheerleading, etc.

I'm confused about how jumping on 1200 pounds of fury equates to having a car accident.

You are driving several thousand pounds of fury with millions of other people. More dangerous than bull-riding.

Some of you on this site are full-on retarded. This is a culture, if you didn’t grow up in the country and didn’t grow up around this stuff - buy yourself a giant cup of STFU.

Exactly!

You have an invitation to intern on an East Texas farm any ole time you want...

You will have chores like you have never experienced...

You will have to deal with all kinds of animals ( some of them will stalk you and wait for you)... 24 hours a day, in all kinds of weather...

You will have to face hardships: no lattes: 5 miles to the nearest town, 13 miles to the vet or doctor, 25 miles to the nearest walmart...

You have no clue... You think there is a meat tree somewhere: People like you think animals play and get along in the woods and sing songs and dance and talk....

You are batcarp crazy, and we have those out here as well ( bats, that is)There are bugs that will sting you and leave a helluva mark, snakes that will kill you in less than an hour ( coral: red and yellow, kill a fellow ), I havent seen a large cat in a few years, but he has seen me...

Stay in your city, you deserve it...

Put down the disney movie and join the natural world, dude...

Well, I grew up around horses and cattle. I used to ride and train and break horses. To me horses were for riding and cattle were for eating.

We considered a horse useless til it was broken for the saddle or the harness or breeding stock. Bucking horses and bucking bulls are for competition cowboys. Such is a dangerous lifestyle because these animals are purposely bred and trained to throw the rider. Its akin to crashing cars on purpose. If people want to do it is fine with me but its not what I call an "intelligent" profession.

And before that knee jerks ask yourself if those who have died doing it would like a second chance on making the decision to mount the animal they rode when they were killed knowing the outcome.

Wait a minute, nature boy. Aren’t you the one who told me about the strap on the nut sack? Ridesthemiles set you straight on that one. I may disagree with him, but at least I respect him because he knows what he’s talking about. If you’ve got anything to say to me, run it by him first to get it right.

So, you're positing that if as many people rode bucking bulls as drive every day - for the same amount of time - there would be few injuries and deaths riding bulls than driving cars?

Really?

You should get educated before you post crap like this. Because of posters like you people on this forum will think that bulls have their nut sack strapped up. My god man what would you do if you had your nut sack strapped up? I would be curled up in a fetal position...the last thing I would want to do is buck. The flank strap is simply a small cotten rope that fits around the bulls flank like a belt. It would be like you having a tight belt on. It simply enhances their kick while the cowboy is ridding it. Have you ever watched bull riding. When the wistle blows and they are off its back it more than likely will quit bucking and look for the catch pen gate. They know what they are doing.
