If the midterm election was a metric, Steele done good...despite pissing many off along the way.
Judged by fundraising, he did not do good.
Times change, Steele can get another job, and still contribute, and give somebody else a chance now.

Not many corporations, groups, and individuals contribute money to a third party.
Being the "chairman" of the third party's national committee is not much of a job at all. I think Steele saw that and got out.
