“WE” refers to my ancestors, and.... General Robert Edward Lee was very upset about the way the North had vilified the South after the war. In 1870, just before his death, Lee told Governor Fletcher Stockdale of Texas,

“Governor, if I had foreseen the use those people designed to make of their victory, there would have been no surrender at Appomattox Courthouse; no sir, not by me. Had I foreseen these results of subjugation I would have preferred to die at Appomattox with my brave men, my sword in my right hand.”

So don’t bring him into it.....

don’t bring him into it? are you high? RE Lee has everything to do with how the South can been seen as a valiant defeated people BECAUSE of the way he acted and the way he accepted the defeat.

He has everything to do with it. Don’t even try to take him out of it.
