There are ample reasons to fear Sarah Palin, but perhaps only one reason why she is so extraordinarily vile: Her tireless drumbeat advocacy of the so-called Judeo-Christian heritage and American Exceptionalism.
Speaking to an audience at a Christian school in suburban Philadelphia (for a reported $250,000) this week that happened to include my good blogger friend Will Bunch, the former half-term Alaska governor declared:
“We must continue to build on our Judeo-Christian heritage, and it’s nothing to apologize for.”
This is Palin at her most diabolical. Of course being a Jew or Christian is nothing to apologize for, but the implicit message is that all other religions and faiths are not just inferior, but dangerous to the American way of life as proscribed by right-wing Christianists, while the explicit message came a few moments later:
“We can’t lose this next generation — we have to keep teaching them what it means to be an American — the American exceptionalism that so many of us do embrace . . . We can’t lose that for the next generation that will soon be rising up and be our leaders.”
It is unconscionable that Buddhists, Baha’is, Hindus and . . . oh, Muslims, do not make the cut, but the xenophobic fantasy that the United States is fated to be the world’s moral leader is not merely laughable. It is dangerous.
MASS MARKETING ANTI-SEMITISM
And while we’re on the subject, a hat tip to Glenn Beck, the mainscream media torch bearer for . . . well, you can skip the Judeo part of Judeo-Christian heritage.
The Fox News talking head has outdone himself in his ongoing jihad against liberal investor and philanthropist George Soros. The Holocaust survivor, whom Beck has repeatedly accused of creating a shadow government that manipulates currencies for his own enrichment (you know, the old Jewish banker meme) now stands accused (in a three day rant) of being a Nazi collaborator while hiding with a non-Jewish family in his teenage years.
It is not so much astounding that Fox continues to pay this loon millions of dollars to spout bile, but that so many people believe it.
TEA PARTY PIGEONS COME HOME TO ROOST
One of the more . . . um, endearing qualities of the fringiest of the Tea Party fringe is its unapologetic call to arms.
Take far-right radio talk show host Joyce Kaufman, whose description of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as “garbage” kind of pales in comparison with her pleas for her listeners to do violence against the Obama administration.
The violence stuff did not give Republican Representative-Elect Allen West of Florida pause, and he named Kaufman as his new chief of staff. But he changed his mind earlier this week when Broward County schools, some libraries and post offices were put on lockdown after a kook inspired by Kaufman’s imprecations went on the warpath.
One fun way to make lefties go nuts is suggest that the 2012 election will be a battle between someone who believes in American Exceptionalism versus someone who does not. The think AE is some neo-con plot.

Yeah, because there’s no vileness on the left, right tootsie. None of those Hitler comparisons, telling Jews to go back to Germany, or get back in the ovens, nothing like that there.
Tootsie, I imagine you know vile pretty well, since it stares back at you in the mirror every morning. Pretty girls getting all the attention must have really pissed your off in high school when you were picked last for dodge ball.

Its awful odd that nobody seems to want to sue Glenn for his “slanderous statements”. LOL
Beck always invites them to refute what he says.
He said he even invited Soros to come on the show.
They always turn him down when he gives them an opportunity to come on the show and explain themselves.

The Time Machine and Mind Control devices Glenn owns are in his basement beside his year supply of canned food.

Plain and simple: if we were as bad as the liberals say we are, then we would not have a liberal problem. They would all be dead or in “camps”. But I suspect that is the “plan” for us if they can ever get that much power.

Sometimes the moderators on DailyKook have to delete whole threads for containing horrible racist and anti-Semitic comments, plus calling for assassinations.
Okay, I'm willing to have this conversation. Who should be the world's moral leader? Russia? Mexico? China? Venezuela? Iran? North Korea? Pakistan?
George Soros? The United Nations? The Internationale?
