Yes, he does need to confirm his eligibility and here’s why...

John McCain had to.

Why because there were question about his natural born status just like with Obama.

The key difference is that McCain was dragged into court over his eligibility and Obama fought tooth and nail to prevent having to face this issue in a court of law.

Obama doesn’t even qualify as a natural born citizen under the very senate resolution he supported to cover John McCain.

Obama has never been held to the same standard that McCain had to endure in the press and in the court.

In the political arena when a question of this magnitude comes up and one candidate is held to a higher standard then the rest must be held to the same standard.

Our more liberal and progressive members might say the press and the government are not required to equally demand from one candidate what it demands from another but we are talking about the very clause that determines weather or not any candidate meet the standard for the office of the presidency as set forth in the Constitution. Once that standard was applied to McCain, all other candidate should have been held to the same standard.

I'm sorry, but exactly what standard do you think McCain was held to? What McCain court cases are you thinking of?

Because off the top of my head, I'm only aware of two. One was Leo Donofrio's first case, which argued that Obama AND McCain were ineligible, and his case was dismissed as to both candidates. The other was Fred Hollander's case, which McCain's lawyers responded to EXACTLY like Obama's lawyers, by promptly filing a Motion to Dismiss. Which was granted.

So what legal hassles are you claiming McCain had to endure, which you think Obama should also have to go through?
