My dad was Catholic, mom was protestant. I think Catholics are a very strong part of the mix in the USA. (ie,,,supreme court) But while i think most people except Obama, would call us a Christian nation,, i doubt many people would generally refer to America as a Catholic nation. Not as you would for example, say of Italy, or Mexico, etc.

And thats a huge point you made. Catholics have the same political divides that all denominations do. Some of em are downright liberation theology Marxists,, others couldn’t be more American.

Right, I don’t think we’re a Catholic nation. I don’t know the actual statistics. Catholicism might be the dominant religion -— likely so — but Christian works for me.
