I don’t think I hung my hat on anything. I think I clearly explained the “why’s” and “wherefore’s,” and gave the Confederacy no “outs” on the moral evil of slavery. I simply gave it some context in both it’s cutural and CSA Constitutional setting. That doesn’t JUSTIFY anything — merely explains it within it’s setting.
