It is, perhaps, fitting that it was on this day, June 18 in 1815, that Napoleon met his Waterloo. For, 195 year later, to the day, it seems that Barack Hussein Obama (Milhous to those who know him), is meeting his own Waterloo, this time in the actual water of the Gulf of Mexico. The metaphor is so neat, it's almost trite, but I submit it anyway. It's also fitting that Napoleon lost the battle largely because he had to wait for the field to dry, it was too muddy to advance on...

What is this obsession with polls?
This whole useless article is about a one-day poll reading!
“the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal.-Barack Hussein Obama
So, he kills the Gulf with oil.
Health care reform was supposed to be Obama’s Waterloo. If this author is correct, it would be ironic that Waterloo instead arrived less than one month after Obamacare was enacted.
Americans would have been well-served had the timing of these 2 events been reversed. Had people seen how hapless the Obama administration was during the first 30 days of the oil spill, it’s unlikely Congress would have enacted a health care plan that handled several orders of magnitude more responsibility onto the federal government.
Ideally, the oil spill mess will accelerate efforts to repeal and replace the health care bill. If so, notwithstanding the tragedy of the mess in the Gulf, it will have served a useful purpose.
I'd say gov't incompetence is proven time and time and time again, witness:
the Florida recount; election rigging in general; Chicago in general; GM/Chrysler jam downs; stimulus 3.0, AIG rescue; Joe Biden, Patrick Leahy, Jay Rockefeller; General Casey: post-Franks, pre-Petraeus Iraq War; George Tenent: it's a slam dunk!, Helluva job Brownie; School bus Ray Nagin; Kathleen Blanco; Big Sis Napolitano; Blago; Hudson County, NJ; Baltimore, Cleveland, Detroit and Compton, CA; Elliot Spitzer and that blind dude; 40% graduation rates in US inner cities; bankrupt Medicare and Social Security; $13-300 trillion debt; defined benefit pensions; the $600 toilet seat; Richard Nixon; Jimmy Carter; ethanol; Ken Salazar; the Farm Bureau; Roe vs. Wade; the Kilo decision; the Supreme's declaring carbon dioxide a pollutant; the Dred Scott decision; slavery; reconstruction; Andrew Johnson; the Democrat Party; the border; illegal immigration....I'll think of more.
“I’ll think of more.”
Por favor, no mas!
Your lengthy list is just a reminder of how impervious to evidence liberals are. Anyone who has the faith in government that Obama has is either willfully ignorant or not paying attention.
We shouldn’t need disasters like the Gulf as 2x4’s to the head to periodically remind us of why the Founders’ notion of limited government with lots of checks and balances to protect us from those who would use government for their own selfish ends was a REALLY good idea.
Obama never should have been elected in the first place. Too bad it’s taken an up-close-and-personal demonstration of his actual incompetence in office to finally persuade a majority of Americans of that indisputable truth.
