Can’t happen, won’t happen. If there’d be just one country in the whole wide world where such a scheme is impossible, it’s the U.S.
As a Dutchman I always admire the American character: as self-reliant as possible, proud of the cornerstones on which the country is built, and most of all: flexible, courageous, and active in all ‘can do’ and ‘make it up as we go along’ situations.
Most important: Americans are willing to make sacrifices, more than any other nationalities in the world.
Therefore: if anything would happen as sketched in the essay, the counter-blast would be so immense, so strong, and yes, so violent (rightfully so), that the plot would be overturned within 24 h.
But, the thing is: what really bothers me is that an eminent writer feels the need to write the above story.
Now that is really creepy. A surefire sign that something is dreadfully wrong in America.

But please explain the NATO and INTERPOL troops that have boots on the ground here in the U.S.....

That premise goes out the window if Barry packs the USSC like FDR.
If Barry has these intentions, then first the Court, after that the “incident”, recruit Mexican and Black gangs to form the heart of his Defense Corp, disband US Mil, then announce suspension.
Then the Civil War begins...
It's not quite that dreadful. There will be no coups---military or otherwise. Some nuts from either side occasionally posture nonsense like that. Americans are very wary of anyone who appears to crave power. But most of the hysteria starts on the left because while the right views the left as a collection of fools, leftists well and truly believe conservatives are evil, nasty trolls who want to dominate everybody.
