The same thing was said about the Clinton admin. and the left said it about the Bush admin...During clintons years there was talk about concentration camps being built....I don’t give these things serious consideration... anything is possible, but not likely.....

I think it is more likely that he will have a complete breakdown and be taken somewhere for reprogramming.

I remember that, some lady with the last name of Thompson in Indiana (I think that was the state) was going on about FEMA camps et cetera... and how people would be rounded up and stuck in them.
Nothing ever came of it.

My only question to the author is, What planet have you been living on for the past 20 years. Because, it was certainly not this one.
Obama is irrelevant.
It is the people controlling Obama that are the threat.
Here is what is going to happen. NKorea SKorea go to war. Simultaneously, all the Arab, that is Arab, nations attack Israel. China goes into Taiwan. And suddenly everything is, "To big to fail."
They already have all of this worked out. They want to protect Obama at all costs because he is them. There will be no election in 2012. I would bet my house on it.
I think many people have not come to terms with the intent of this regime or the seriousness of what this is all going to mean.
The author is not getting the debpth or the determination of their intentions. And they do not care a single bit about any so called 'rule of law'.
The best thing we have going for us is that Obama and his followers are incompetent.
However, Hitler didn’t surround himself with geniuses. What they lacked in brains, they made up for with lying, arrogance, and brutishness. If you’re willing to do really horrible things to people, and to kill anyone who gets in your way, you can sometimes go a long way before someone stops you.
Couldn't hide rounding up many people without another civil war breaking out...just vote in the next election and make O a lame duck....
Rather, they all understand that it is in their interest to continue slowly and surely eroding our Constitutional rights, dumbing-down our educational system, relativizing moral standards, degrading faith in capitalism, promoting the entitlement mentality, fosting the victim mentality, building up a large sub-population of state wards suffering from "learned helplessness," demotivating Leistungsträger (i.e., the minority who actually contribute more to financing the gov't than they get back), and undermining patriotism.
That way, they can achieve the same dehumanizing ends - without firing a shot.

Can’t happen, won’t happen. If there’d be just one country in the whole wide world where such a scheme is impossible, it’s the U.S.
As a Dutchman I always admire the American character: as self-reliant as possible, proud of the cornerstones on which the country is built, and most of all: flexible, courageous, and active in all ‘can do’ and ‘make it up as we go along’ situations.
Most important: Americans are willing to make sacrifices, more than any other nationalities in the world.
Therefore: if anything would happen as sketched in the essay, the counter-blast would be so immense, so strong, and yes, so violent (rightfully so), that the plot would be overturned within 24 h.
But, the thing is: what really bothers me is that an eminent writer feels the need to write the above story.
Now that is really creepy. A surefire sign that something is dreadfully wrong in America.
I think his final conclusion is correct. This is not a scenario which warrants our concern. However, he did miss one point.
Note that historically, FDR attempted a coup by stacking the Supreme Court. He was turned back. Also note that the people who can strike down an illegitimate attempt to declare martial law are the Supreme Court Justices.
The only thing standing between us and an out of control executive branch IS the Supreme Court and any scoundrel [read Rahm] will know this.
For these reasons, I agree with the author that a physical attack on Congress would not be effectual, but a physical attack on the Supreme Court might be.
Pray for the safety of the SCOTUS and the preservation of the Republic!

While such scare tactics originated with the left, as mentioned by the author, many of us note that there has been a recurring theme from the left of accusing the opposition of the very crimes which they are committing.
It’s doubtful that any government-wide plan exists for the emplacement of martial law, one that involves the bureaucracy as a whole, that is continually updated, and briefed to all officials.
That's probably the weakest link in the whole martial law theory. Assume for the sake of argument that martial law was declared and all our FedGov pols and bureaucrats were on board for it. Does anyone really think the government that handled Katrina, the GoM oil disaster and the War on Drugs could competently handle nation-wide martial law? I'm sure it wouldn't be pleasant but it would be a lot like being Hogan's Heroes in Col. Klink's prison camp.
