To the anti-American DUmocrats and those supporting the confederacy he was a dictator. He refused to back down from those in direct violation of the Constitution.

If we’re going to use the analogy of the Revolution (as many of the postings here are attempting to do), the south chose to act the role of King George and England. Not only did they want to stack the deck against the more populous northern states (by counting southern slaves as population without giving them representation) they wanted to violate the Constitution - the 3/5 compromise (Article 1, Section 2, Paragraph 3) to ensure a lock on power in Congress by counting all slaves.

Slave states that formed the confederacy were already in violation of the US Constitution by 1808 (Article 1 Section 9). That date was when importation of slaves was agreed to be ceased, yet they wanted to expand importation of slaves and further increase their power over northern states. So they flagrantly violated the US Constitution and called it “piracy”.

When they could not import more slaves, Copperheads in the north captured free blacks and sent them south into bondage.

Many also wish to quote Lincoln and twist his words to support their anti-American agendas. Here’s an excerpt from his second inauguration address:

“On the occasion corresponding to this four years ago, all thoughts were anxiously directed to an impending civil-war. All dreaded it — all sought to avert it. While the inaugeral address was being delivered from this place, devoted altogether to saving the Union without war, insurgent agents were in the city seeking to destroy it without war — seeking to dissole the Union, and divide effects, by negotiation. Both parties deprecated war; but one of them would make war rather than let the nation survive; and the other would accept war rather than let it perish. And the war came.

One eighth of the whole population were colored slaves, not distributed generally over the Union, but localized in the Southern half part of it. These slaves constituted a peculiar and powerful interest. All knew that this interest was, somehow, the cause of the war.”

The DUmocrats have aligned themselves with the enemies of America since the Revolution. Since 1860 they have ACTIVELY sought in the defeat of the U.S. Constitution since they cannot govern successfully under it. The JACKASS party were never “honorable” in anything they’ve ever done. They pi$$ed away any honor they may have once held during our founding for lust of power.

The confederate ranks were formed a full month before Lincoln’s first Inaugural Address on Monday, March 4, 1861 and Lincoln didn’t order troops until three days after the confederate attack on Fort Sumter (April 12th).

Another myth that has been perpetuated by ignorant DUmocrats....”the parties have changed”. They’re still the same as they always have been. The civil war-era JACKASS party that many here defend have the same goals now as they did then.

Oh no. See - we’re at the end of the “factual” portion of our program and into the gratuitous name-calling on this thread. You’ll have to find a “fresh” one if you want to argue... ;-)
