I know that your research is limited almost exclusively to Lost Cause fantasy sites but do you honestly mean that in all your wanderings among the Civil War threads you have never once come across a reference to the OR? The Official Record? Or, more correctly, "The War of the Rebellion: A compilation of the Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies"? You honestly have never heard of it? My God, I knew you were a boob but I never suspected that you were that clueless.
The OR has no bias. It is a collection of every scrap of paper available - every order, every report, every letter, every document the editors could get their hands on - from both the rebel and the U.S. sides, presented without editing and without comment. It's organized into four series and about 70 volumes, and it and it's companion work, "The Official Record of the Union and Confederate Navies" is availble on line in a searchable format at half a dozen sites. And the name is a result of the fact that it was edited between 1880 and, I believe, 1901 when the war went by the politically incorrect, but far more accurate, title of "War of the Rebellion". Hence the name.
Never heard of the OR. Will wonders never cease?
