Clarification: the first anecdote is separate from the second towards the end of the article. Still, accounts like this are amazing.

Why is it that God’s protection is not considered, but rather some “St.” that ostensibly has powers similar to God, but sits in heaven doing the work of God by watching over folks that carry his baseball card? Unbelievable idolatry.
I am happy the Capt. escaped injury, but he clearly doesn’t understand Who is really running the universe. And for all of the “Saint” seekers, it ain’t “them”.

let’s see the diversity police try to confiscate his prayer card.

Did the first marine think anything special saved him?

Too bad He doesn’t save all of them.

That was rude.
No it wasn't. The prior post was Catholic Bashing, plain and simple.
Saints are not God. No one says they are.

Why is it that Gods protection is not considered, but rather some St. that ostensibly has powers similar to God, but sits in heaven doing the work of God by watching over folks that carry his baseball card? Unbelievable idolatry. Do you believe in angels?
Do you believe they are God's messengers and do his bidding?
I hope the answer to both of the previous questions is "yes".
So who was it who rescued Peter from jail and led him to freedom, as recounted in Acts, 12? Was it God himself, or an angel sent from God?
Angels are our friends, they do God's bidding and they watch over us.
Just as they watched over this guy.
And guess what?
God is not mad about that.

This “saint” is Michael the Archangel, who is mentioned in both the Old and New Testaments. I guess believing in angels that guide and protect us is “idolatry” in your book.

Yeah, it is rude to be hateful to another poster like you were.
It’s a forum. Everybody gets to state their opinion, and you can ignore or argue as you wish. But telling someone to go away is hateful, an indication that only you get to say your piece and that everyone else should shut up.
So, if you’re going to be a good Catholic and a good Christian, act like one and mind your manners.

Oops. Just realized you weren’t the rude poster; you were just defending him. Nice of you to do that, but he still needs to work on his manners.

"go away. Most highly superstitious followers of the Roman cult need these props. Grown ups face that the little icons are not only wrong, but ungodly. Trouble facing that? Sad.
To: Jedidah
That was rude.I was giving him good advice. He's in way over his head.
To: Dutchboy88
un huhn.
I don't think we need anymore prophets, thanks.
