Doug Hoffman pledged to help Dede Scozzafava in an e-mail sent two days after the Republican Party passed over the Lake Placid accountant for the nomination.
The e-mail, sent from Mr. Hoffman's business account on July 24 and provided by the Scozzafava campaign, states in full: "Hi Dede, Congratulations and the best of luck in your candidacy. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help. Doug."
This is contrary to what Mr. Hoffman, who is now running against Ms. Scozzafava as a Conservative candidate, told me less than two weeks later.

Is that why the NRA endorsed Hoffman?
Ah Ha Ha Ha, clumsy troll.
I sent money to Doug the day Sarah endorsed him.
He’s wrong and his position is why our country is on the verge of complete collapse and the Marxists are taking over but you can look at his posts and see that he is not a DU Troll.
How? It is normal for the loser to congratulate the winner and offer support.
For you to characterize it as “Hoffman lying his way to power” is such an overreaction that not even a bad soap opera writer would do it. In addition, it convincingly demonstrates your lack of ability to understand practical elective politics.
He didn’t sign a written pledge. You are being thick.
Isn't it ironic that you'll so willing to suspend (alleged) support for Hoffman for 'lying' (your words), yet you choose to support DeDe and a bunch of fraud conservatives who have continually lied about being conservatives?
What does that say about you?
I saw that quote, but of course he didn’t pledge to support her, he pledged to support the republican nominee, and he’s explained that he never thought they’d pick her.
So yes, he is breaking his pledge. We kicked a good man out of our republican party committee one year because, having promised not to run for a school board position if he didn’t get the republican endorsement, when he didn’t get it he cried foul and ran anyway, making it harder for the person we did endorse to win the race.
But in that case, it wasn’t about the other candidate being too liberal.
BTW, every candidate who runs for office in a primary is asked to sign pledges of support for the eventual nominee. Joe Lieberman signed a pledge when he ran for the democratic primary, and when he lost he ran as an independent, breaking that pledge.
It’s pretty standard procedure, and nothing a newspaper would normally make a big deal about, but it was a legitimate issue.
However, DeDe shows her ignorance when she uses this e-mail to make a point. The e-mail didn’t pledge her anything, it just told he to ask if she needed anything.
My guess is that DeDe never asked for anything. And right now, he IS helping her, to keep her place in the Senate by running against her for Congress.
I hope you didn't send him your credit card information.
So, what do you suggest?
Mojave is not a troll. Mojave just hasn’t seen the light.
After EVERY election the loser congratulates the winner and offers support.
Well, she said she would never sign a stupid no-tax pledge, but then later she went ahead and signed it. So I guess that makes her a liar as well.
You sure like RINO’s don’t ya?
Something tells me you voted for Obama.
MoveOn.org also endorsed her.
The difference is that I don’t see the NRA all that upset that Hoffman is running.
He gave his word because he didn't think he would actually be called on to keep it? If that's the standard, then no pledge has any value.
Do you really want to Rep to win?
