Hoffman was for Scozzafava before he was against her
Watertown Daily Times ^ | MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 2009 | JUDE SEYMOUR

Doug Hoffman pledged to help Dede Scozzafava in an e-mail sent two days after the Republican Party passed over the Lake Placid accountant for the nomination.

The e-mail, sent from Mr. Hoffman's business account on July 24 and provided by the Scozzafava campaign, states in full: "Hi Dede, Congratulations and the best of luck in your candidacy. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help. Doug."

This is contrary to what Mr. Hoffman, who is now running against Ms. Scozzafava as a Conservative candidate, told me less than two weeks later.

it convincingly demonstrates your lack of ability to understand practical elective politics.

If you think Hoff running as 3rd party is a good idea, then "it convincingly demonstrates your lack of ability to understand practical elective politics. "

Yes, and it is abnormal to run against the party nominee as a third party candidate.

True, but when the party goes this far out to lunch, it's time to discipline the party.

Elected RINOs vote against Conservatism regularly.

What’s your point?

Yep, he made a pledge to support the party nominee. Then, as documented in the article you linked to, the representative from Clinton County pulled a fast one making a farce of the nomination process and turning her back on the overwhelming wishes of her constituents. He may be guilty of naivete for assuming the nomination process would be a fair one, but his pledge became moot as soon as the bad faith in the nomination process became obvious.

I’m much more troubled by a supposed “journalist” blantantly acting as a tool of a campaign and turning what was, at best, a marginal story about a polite email and turning into an advocacy piece for a candidate in the race.

I do agree, and wonder if Hoffman would be the candidate next november even if he wins.

There were two solid conservative candidates who could have been picked for this seat, both refused to run against the party. Either of them would be good picks next year.

I’m not sure, but I suspect that you’re not terribly popular at the moment.

Yeah. Kill the messenger.

You've packed a lot of freight onto this pledge, some of us would like to see the language, so we know if we're dealing with a cabover Peterbilt or a '59 Datsun.

No Edsel?

There is no third party involved. You have two RATs and a Reagan Conservative who is endorsed by many Conservatives in Congress. Two choices. Fairly simple. It’s not even a matter of a “lesser of two evils” now. Now that there is a clear choice.

DeDe is going to lose. Hoffman is going to win. That makes me so very happy.

In fact this thread is making me very happy because the RINO’s are desperate. Truly childish and lame.

Your “conservative spin” comment is very telling since this is a conservative site. You an Mojave should get a room.

She changed her vote on the second ballot. That's the purpose of multiple ballots.

GOP leaders were outraged, especially since Mr. Hoffman, like other congressional hopefuls, had pledged to support the nominee. “He did say it repeatedly,” said Sandra Corey, the former GOP chairwoman of Jefferson County. “And then all of a sudden, it’s a no-go, like he hadn’t understood her background, which is a falsehood. I would never, ever trust him.”

If you think Hoff running as 3rd party is a good idea, then "it convincingly demonstrates your lack of ability to understand practical elective politics. "

And if you think Scozzy will advance Conservatism, you're foolish.

Sorry, I should’ve been more specific. Any Republican who is as Liberal as Scozzafava is a danger to the nation.

If you support Scozzafava then the shoe fits you too — wear it proudly!!!

Acorn endorse dede twice, both times she was running unopposed. All other times when there was another candidate on the ballot, acorn DID NOT ENDORSE HER.

Can we agree that if the involved Republican County Chairmen had followed their own policy, their candidate would have been much more acceptable to the registered Republicans in the 23rd District?

Can we agree that this all got started when cronyism raised it ugly head in what was supposed to be a transparent process?

Can we agree that the best solution is usually based on canvasing those that are interested? Most districts call that a primary.

The RNC is now at war with all conservatives!

This is no surprise. Didn't lord McCain come unglued if anybody used BamaKennedy's middle supposed birth name? This RNC is still lord McCain's RNC and they despise conservatives more than they do liberals. Else they would not have selected this gal that like lord McCain offered to run on a democrat ticket.

I didn't quote Scozzy.

Dede was selected, not elected through a legitimate primary.
