Doug Hoffman pledged to help Dede Scozzafava in an e-mail sent two days after the Republican Party passed over the Lake Placid accountant for the nomination.
The e-mail, sent from Mr. Hoffman's business account on July 24 and provided by the Scozzafava campaign, states in full: "Hi Dede, Congratulations and the best of luck in your candidacy. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help. Doug."
This is contrary to what Mr. Hoffman, who is now running against Ms. Scozzafava as a Conservative candidate, told me less than two weeks later.

The GOP is throwing every ACORN/Moveon tactic in the book at this one and theyve become disgusting. The Watertown daily times is considered to be a reliable conservative newspaper. They have also endorsed Dede. And you are way out of line to lay this on the GOP. Hoffman made a pledge, and changed his mind, nothing wrong with that, but don't blame the GOP FOR THIS.

Im not sure, but I suspect that youre not terribly popular at the moment.Shills of the pro-abortion lobby usually aren't very popular, 'round these here parts.

I would rather Owens win than Scozzafava. She is more liberal than Owens and would be more of a burden to remove in 2010.At least Scozzy hasn't denied her voting record. Owens lies about his by pretending he's a moderate.

“Despite having signed a pledge to support the eventual nominee to emerge from the process, Hoffman considered the possibility of asking for the Conservative Party’s endorsement to run against Scozzafavva, making it a three way race.”

I don't like you.
Well since you're a RINO troll, that's to be expected. Not many RINO's like O2bfree.

That's a classic example of a 'changing circumstances' exception. As he said, nobody thought the committee would nominate the ONLY Socialist in the bunch.
You expect other folks to play by the rules when you agree (orally, it appears, according to a committee member) to support the party's nominee. If the committee runs completely off the rails (and at least one member has resigned over this) that's a changing circumstance. You're not getting anything like what you thought you were agreeing to.

Would you mind telling us what part of her positions do you favor?
Hoffman knew her positions before he made his agreement with the selection committee. She was in the state assembly and her votes were matters of public record.

By making sure that a liberal like Scozzafava doesn't sit in Congress? He made his pledge knowing what she was.

She sucks. If you knew her complete record, instead of conservative spin, you would still support Hoffman, but you would not make that very uncivilized and very unconservative statement.

He made his pledge knowing what she was. What pledge? Where is it?

It came on top of his multiple pledges to the selection committee. A pledge is a legal device and it needs and requires either a signature or it needs to be sworn under oath.
Saying, "let me know if you need any help," is not a pledge, it is a polite form of communication that people typically engage in with those that they aren't that close to.
