Like Terri, they may be under intense emotional pressure to "stop being a burden on the rest of us (read: I want to marry someone fun but am stuck with your illness)". I believe Mikey Schiavo's exact words (this occurred a few years before he successfully murdered Terri) were, "when is this bitch going to die?" Terrie had a urinary tract infection and he refused to let her have an antibiotic, he thought this would kill her and when she didn't die he said this to several people at the hospice.
