On one of the threds in the last week or so - someone investigated and posted a list of words used in the “race” box in HI in the early 60s. “Negro” was on the list, “African” was not.
I wish I knew who posted it.
That is true. It was not me but I have checked it personally. The term in use in Hawaii was Negro. My question for research today was is “african” used as a term to designate a person of color in another culture of the world....That led me to South Africa/Dutch connection.
(I had done research on Kenya a few days back....Kenya has a big connection to the Dutch.....
Part of the historic Spice Route, claim to fame is “Clove”...and parts of the country smells of the fragrance of clove during seasons of the year.) Wonderful museums with great photo’s on line.
