First Gibb’s bizarre DNA statement & now this find from BP2 (post #8961) & MHGinTN’s critical point that the question from the reporter was about townhall meetings.
Reporter: “The president campaigned on the notion that we could get beyond the ugly partisan warfare of the last sixteen years and that there could be rational discussion that could bring parties together. What happened to that? Why did the post partisan presidency not materialize?”
Gibbs actual quote in WH press briefing 8-12-09
... I can’t tell you why somebody believes, despite all preponderance of the evidence, that the president was born umm ... in uh ... uh ... was born here and not somewhere else ...
Rearranging a phrase (without changing the meaning of what he actually said), Gibbs just stated the following:
...despite all preponderance of the evidence, I can’t tell you why somebody believes that the president was born umm ... in uh ... uh ... was born here and not somewhere else ...
Of course we know Gibbs did not MEAN to say it, but like the DNA statement, it is what came out of his mouth.
Gibbs is becoming seriously, psychologically conflicted.
I think they call that a Freudian slip.
Dennis Miller said (in effect) that Gibbs makes Scott McClellan look like a genius.
