It has been alleged that Orly Taitz was able to get into the records of foreign students in California and found a listing for Barry Sotero. Obviously, that is not consistent with your position. I don’t have too much invested in either side of the debate in terms of what he called himself at Occidental, but, having heard about Taitz’s research, I am inclined to believe that his legal name while at Occidental was Barry Sotero.
Having seen many kids go through divorce when I was in school, I can say that there is always a confusion and dread when a student has to change his legal name because of a divorce. I can easily see any such child being reluctant to use their legal name to avoid embarrassment.
That release was based on a report from a California Senate report in 1970, when Barry was 10 years old. It’s possible that 10-year-old Barry was the Soetoro referred in the Cali Senate proclamation, but I doubt it. I think it was for a graduate student at UC-something named Soetoro. Maybe it was a reference to 10-year-old Barry Soetoro as a fifth-grade exchange student in San Francisco, but I doubt it.
Ms Taitz can be very sloppy, unfortunately.
